Mark Meyers

Mark Meyers has been the Executive Director of the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue for the past two decades. Mark’s professional background was originally in the construction field with a license and privately owned company in both General and Electrical Contracting in Los Angeles, California. Mark retired from construction over ten years ago to concentrate on improving the Plight of the American Donkey. Since his full-time involvement, the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue has grown into the largest equine rescue in the world.

Mark has written several books, including “Talking With Donkeys” Volume 1-4 (2005-2014 30,000+ copies sold), “Donkeys of the Caribbean” (2017 10,000 copies sold) and America's Wild Burros (released May 2019).

Mark and Peaceful Valley have been featured both nationally and internationally in television, documentaries, radio and nearly every major market newspaper. Mark and his faithful companion Bonney were featured by National Geographic’s. Aside from his rescue duties, Mark travels the country speaking publicly on promoting the welfare of the American Donkey.

Mark is a professional photographer and an award winning documentary filmmaker. He is currently working on his second project with cinematographer Mike BrownDonkeys of the Caribbean” covering the complex issue of the many donkey populations on various islands through the Caribbean.

Mark was a Top 10 CNN Hero for 2019.
