From capture or rescue, to veterinary care and training, to the journey home, Peaceful Valley ensures all donkeys taken in are given the best chance for a new start.

The Journey and Training
From capture or rescue, to veterinary care and training, to the journey home, Peaceful Valley ensures all donkeys taken in are given the best chance for a new start.

Rescue
Donkeys are rescued, humanely captured, or taken in from the Bureau of Land Management. This is where their journey begins

Veterinary Care
Each donkey will receive vaccines and any needed medical care.

Training
Donkeys will enter training where they will learn to accept a halter, walk on a lead rope, and stand tied up for grooming and hoof trimming.

Transport
Once training is complete, donkeys will be transported across the US to Satellite Adoption Centers.

Home
After an adopter has completed an application and is approved, donkeys will make their way to their new home.
All of Peaceful Valley’s adoptable donkeys must graduate from PVDR’s Training Academy. The first step on the road to the Academy is that the donkey must first be friendly towards people; then it is considered a candidate for the Academy.
Our trainers grade each student using A through F system and the pupils are not deemed ready for adoption until they are straight A students.
